Bridgnorth come up to scratch

The ladies from Bridgnorth Golf Club battled through to win the Shropshire Ladies County Scratch League and the Anne Jarvis Cup.

After finishing runners-up in their round one group one that also contained The Shropshire, Oswestry and Shrewsbury, Bridgnorth progressed to face group two winners Llanymynech in the semi-finals.

Bridgnorth lost the home match 2-1 against with Helen White winning her match 6&4 and the two losses both coming on 17th.

In the away match Bridgnorth won 2-1 as White again won 7&5 and the lost match was on the 18th. Therefore, Bridgnorth went through on holes up.

The final at Hawkstone Park was nail biting with White winning her match on the 17th and Laura Morris clinching victory on the 18th.

The team in the final was White, Morris and Angela Hinton. Other ladies who played in the earlier rounds were Imogen Huxley and Stephanie Overton.

Scratch league organiser Alison Grove thanked all the Bridgnorth members who turned out to support the team.
