Tigers relishing return to action

Defenceman Liam Preece believes Telford Tigers 2 will have benefitted from a break.

They return to action at home to Hull Jets on Sunday having not played last weekend.

“It’s been good for the team to have a weekend off early on in the season to assess where we’re at as a team and what we need to work on,” said Preece.

“We’ve had a great start to the season, but I think the way the league is shaping up this year there’s no room for complacency.

“We’ve worked hard over the past few weeks, and we’ll continue that throughout this week and into the weekend seeing Hull for the first time this season.

“(Callum) Bowley has been a great coach this season and I think if we all buy in to what he has to offer we’ll continue to be an extremely difficult team to play against.”

Tigers 2 opened with three straight wins but were beaten last time out by Deeside Dragons.

“This weekend is going to provide a big test for us and I want to see a response after our disappointing loss to Deeside,” said player-coach Bowley.

“Hull picked up a great result against a strong Widnes team at the weekend and I expect them to come to our rink and play with a lot of confidence.

“They are a team that sprung a huge surprise last season and always made it quite difficult for us when we played them. We have to make sure we’re ready to go, come to the rink with the right mindset and put the defeat against Deeside behind us. We need to bounce back and play at our level.”
