Tigers plan appeal over Joe Aston’s ban

Telford TIGERS are planning to appeal a four-game suspension handed to forward Joe Aston.

Aston was given a match penalty for fighting and ejected from last Saturday’s victory over Billingham Stars.

But league disciplinary bosses have increased the normal two-game ban to four.

“We don’t agree with it,” said head coach Tom Watkins.

“I think four games for what happened is ridiculous.

“It was something of nothing. Nobody was injured and it just needs a bit of common sense.

“Because the other guy didn’t drop his gloves it’s deemed he didn’t want a fight and the committee have increased the suspension to four games.

“The highlights are out there, people can judge and make their own minds up.”

Tigers are in Moralee Conference action with a trip to Solihull Barons tonight before a home clash with Sutton Sting tomorrow.

Charlie Hammerton and Matt Price have been called up from the Tigers2 side.

And Watkins is hoping a fiery atmosphere at Solihull can help his team claim a fourth straight win.

“There’s always a little bit of extra spice when you are playing a local rival,” added Watkins.

“But that’s what gets you going, if you can keep your emotions in check.”
